To start with i would like to list a few books which i feel should be there in every animators desk.
The Animators Survival Kit by Richard Williams
The Illusion of life by Frank Thomas and Ollie Johnston
Simplified Drawing for Planning Animation by Wayne Gilbert
Cartoon Animation by Preston Blair
Acting for Animators by Ed hooks
Stop Staring by Jason Osipa
An Actor Prepares by Constantin Stanislavski
These are not the only books that are available to learn animation. But these are the ones that I've read and would like to recommend for others.I've numbered them just to help beginners make a choice. But that doesn't mean you can corner your "Survival Kit" once you've read it fully because there are some really good animators who have read these books again and again. The reason is.. they read it every time with a different level of understanding and knowledge which pushes them to the next level.I know if you've reached this far... your quite bored already.I'd like to end with a note that it does no harm to read Stanislavski's while your still going through your Survival kit. But its always best to lay a strong foundation and then slowly climb up the ladder.
